The Monash University Department of Gastroenterology Translational Nutrition Science group is comprised of dietitians, scientists, postgraduate students and gastroenterologists working together to explore the role of food components in gastrointestinal conditions. Much of our work involves a group of poorly absorbed short chain carbohydrates (FODMAPs) and the most common gastrointestinal disorder, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Our team also has an interest in non-coeliac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease, natural food chemicals, hypnotherapy, infantile colic and prebiotics and probiotics for IBS management.
